The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Planning & Development department as an Administrative Assistant II.

Reporting to the Financial Officer, this position will be responsible for administrative support to the department, as well as reception and
customer service for the public. Key responsibilities include:
 
  • Providing front-line customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Providing knowledgeable, timely, and current information in response to inquiries and concerns relating to the Planning and Engineering department.
  • Receiving and processing various permit and compliance certificate applications and associated fees ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Liaising with contractors, homeowners, business owners, and internal departments to facilitate permit processing.
  • Following specific processes for cash handling, deposits and point of sale.
  • Performing general administrative duties, a wide variety of general office tasks and small projects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma combined with two (2) years of related experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the public sector or municipal government.
  • Completion of, or working toward a post secondary administrative certificate program (such as an Office Administration Certificate) is preferred.
  • Professionalism, and a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Exceptional ability to work in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, manage and balance a variety of interests.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Tempest and Agresso software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FOIP legislation.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Number of hours worked per week will vary based on operational needs.

Compensation

$27.89 - $33.29 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
