We are seeking a Building Operator ( Maintenance Tech) to join our dynamic team at the St Albert Shopping Centre at St Albert, AB. As a Building Operator you will be performing day to day preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on minor HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing systems as well as customer service duties to ensure the seamless operation of the mall.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and small repairs on all mechanical and motorized equipment
- Monitor Building Automation System (BAS) and report any issues to Manage
- Adjust electronic t-stats as needed on RTU not connected to BA
- Ensure that all Workorders generated by Angus are completed in an expeditious manner and follow-up to ensure quality of work
- Inspect and perform minor tests relating to Fire Protection Systems
- Address all plumbing problems that arise and replace parts as necessary for unique vacuum plumbing system that is property specific
- Perform water chemical tests and add the required chemicals to the building-closed boiler systems
- Maintain all electrical and mechanical rooms so that they are clean and organized at all
- times, including the painting of piping, pumps and floors
- Address tenant requests and complaints promptly and professionally
- Assist Manager with controlling inventory of stocked items, directing contractors, and making recommendations on possible changes to enhance the efficiency of building operations
- Assist other departments with “set-up” and “tear-down” of materials (if applicable)
- Operate owners’ motorized equipment (i.e. forklift, tractor, scissor lift, etc.) (if applicable)
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Secondary School diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role preferred
- 4th or 5th Power Engineering Certification an asset
- Mechanical Inclination a must
- Possession of a Refrigeration Engineer certificate an asset
Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities
- Working knowledge of heating and cooling systems
- WHMIS certification an asset
- Common Knowledge of Healthy and Safety legislation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs an asset
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work flexible hours
